Greenbox

Greenbox is a project I created to grow herbs for cooking in my sunless apartment. It is small enough to fit into an IKEA Kallax box, allowing it to be placed in a shelving unit with just an external power cable.

It works by controlling the growing lamp during daylight hours and refilling the water in the planter if it gets too low.

I had to create my own water level "sensor" because I couldn't find one at the time, that fit this application. Although it looks somewhat makeshift, it effectively detects whether the water level is at "max" or "min," which is sufficient for this application.

This was my first real home project, so it wasn't anything amazing.

I might revisit it in the future and make some improvements to the whole design.
